dc.description.abstractThis study investigates the impact of integrating Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) into early childhood education in UAE nurseries. Using a mixed-methods approach, data was collected from 15 nurseries across three emirates through surveys, focus groups, and classroom observations. Key findings include a significant positive correlation between ESD integration and children's sustainable behaviors, improved environmental awareness, and transfer of eco-friendly practices to home environments. Challenges identified include resource constraints and the need for enhanced teacher training. The research contributes to limited literature on ESD in early childhood education in the UAE, offering recommendations for a UAE-specific ESD curriculum framework and increased investment in teacher professional development. Limitations include a focus on urban nurseries. Future research should explore ESD implementation in diverse geographical settings within the UAE. The study concludes that strategic ESD integration in early childhood education can foster environmentally conscious citizens, aligning with UAE's sustainability goals. A systemic approach to ESD implementation in nurseries is recommended to maximize impact on children's sustainable behavior.
