Organizational Innovation of UAE Healthcare Sector: The Role of Knowledge Management through Technology Adoption and Organizational Culture
(The British University in Dubai (BUiD), 2024-06) KARAM, SAEED HUSSAIN IBRAHIM MOHAMMAD; Dr Muhammad Waris Khan
Strengthening healthcare organizational is critical for achieving the nation’s strategic goals and successfully implementing UAE Vision 2031 and the UAE Centennial Plan 2071. While the literature posits knowledge management (KM) as one of the most important drivers affecting organizational innovation, the scholarly debate underlining the relationship between KM processeses and organizational innovation is fragmented. Moreover, literature is scarce on the nuanced understanding of the relationship between KM processes and organizational innovation. Against this backdrop, this study aims to examine the impact of KM processes on organizational innovation in the UAE healthcare sector through the mediating role of technology adoption and organizational culture. It employed a quantitative methodology where an online survey (n=387) was administered to the employees of healthcare organizations operating in seven Emirates of the UAE to collect data. The data were then analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM), in SmartPLS 4. Theoretically, this study contributes to the literature by systematically highlighting the individual role of KM processes in driving organizational innovation, and by exploring the mediation roles of technology adoption and organizational culture in the UAE healthcare sector. Moreover, the conceptual model presented by this study can be of help to advance an understanding of the key antecedents of organizational innovation in the healthcare sector. Practically, this study provides valuable recommendations for managerial use as well as policy guidelines for UAE healthcare organizations, stakeholders, and decision makers. In particular, making KM a continuous process, fostering a knowledge sharing culture, and capturing the existing knowledge can help UAE healthcare organizations strengthen their innovative capabilities.
