The Impact of School Leadership in Supporting Teachers to Integrate AI Tools: A Pathway to Transformative Education

Abstract

The incorporation of AI in education is transforming instructional methods through personalised learning and enhanced management processes. Successful AI integration within school systems depends on management support that enables teachers to use AI tools effectively. Theis study has analyzedanalysed the role of school leadership in the integration of AI. This study employed a quantitative research approach to examine school leadership training, infrastructural backing, and policy development. A survey was conducted among 150 teachers and school leaders to elicit their experiences, perceptions, and challenges concerning AI integration. Although the majority of teachers believed that AI could enhance student engagement and personalised learning, numerous barriers hindered its implementation. Key challenges included inadequate training, limited access to AI applications, resistance to change, and ethical concerns regarding AI use. Although school leadership plays a crucial role in providing training programmes, resources, and guidelines, teachers remain discouraged due to the lack of clear policies and insufficient support. The study strongly recommends that school leadership adopt transparent approaches to develop AI competencies, ensure equitable access to AI resources, and address ethical issues in AI use. The findings provide practical recommendations for policymakers and school leaders to strengthen institutional support, bridge competence gaps, and develop sustainable AI strategies.
